OttersOTTERS are fish-eating mammals and their presence in rivers is meant to signify clean water and a good supply of fish. Their numbers in Britian declined massively during the middle of the 20th century, largely due to pollution, so that Otters were lost from most of the country, with remaining populations concentrated mainly in the North of England and Scotland.
