Andy Cole

Andy Cole

CONDUCT a quick straw poll of memorable events in Tyneside and there's one thing that will almost certainly get a mention: the day when striker Andy Cole was sold to Manchester United.

Born in 1971, Andy Cole came to NUFC from Bristol City in 1993, and scored 68 goals until his shock move to Manchester United in 1995. Since then, he has played for Blackburn Rovers, Fulham, Manchester City, Portsmouth and has now moved to Nottingham Forest.

He is the second-highest goal scorer in Premier League history, after Alan Shearer.

In 1999, he released a song and video, 'Outstanding'. It failed to find chart success.
