Durham Light Infantry (DLI)

Durham Light Infantry (DLI)

THE Durham Light Infantry (DLI) was founded in 1758 and fought in all of Britian's major wars until it was disbanded in 1968.

The regiment won 11 Victoria Crosses, including one for Roland Barford, who at the age of 25 was the youngest British General of the First World War. Adam Wakenshaw and Richard Annand received medals for their bravery during the Second World War (posthumuously in the case of Private Wakenshaw, who died in the Western Desert).
